You can get a sense of what the apartment looks like from the photos, though these are a bit old; I just moved in, so I haven’t furnished everything yet (essential furniture like a couch, dining table, etc., is already there). I’ve also drawn a floor plan, which gives you an idea of how the rooms are laid out. The bedroom that’s available is the one where the easel is in the photos. It’s a small bedroom, but there’s enough space for a bed and a closet. The shared living area, on the other hand, is quite spacious. As you can see, there’s currently no door for this bedroom: when students lived here before, there was a curtain here; personally, I was thinking of a panel wall with a clamp system.
Location
The location is ideal: 1 km from Utrecht Central Station, and there’s even another station (Utrecht Vaartsche Rijn) that’s closer. I’ll be studying at the University of Amsterdam (UvA) starting in September, which is also quite manageable in terms of commuting. You’ll be living on Catharijnesingel, so basically everything is within walking or biking distance.
Costs
The rent situation is a bit complicated, so I won’t go into all the details here, but the bottom line is that I don’t expect you to contribute to the rent. All other costs (such as additional furnishings or groceries) would be split. I also recently bought a car myself and would like to live with someone who also has a driver’s license, so that the car (and associated costs 😅) can be shared (this is the 200 euros I listed as rent).
